2010 - Tejami Designs About Us I’ve always made things.  When I was child my mother taught me to crochet and macrame.  I helped her crochet hats and macrame plant holders that she would sell at fairs.  I have a technical job, so I’ve always looked at methods to nurture my creative needs.  In 2009, my cousin suggested I begin selling some of things I make.  I had never considered it, but I had a large container of things I haven’t yet given as presents. Last year I did my very first craft fair at the Christmas Bazaar in Portland, Oregon.  I was hooked and began creating at any moment I could find.  I like to create items that are on occasion “a little out there” and things that make a statement.  While I can reel myself in sometimes, I like to push my creative envelope to the point where it becomes art, but not too far that it becomes a costume.  But I love a little theatre every now and then. I pride myself in that I make every part of my hair accessories by hand.  They are hand sewn and every flower is hand cut and rolled.  I don’t purchase store bought flowers at all.  I am pretty much self taught in all that I do.  While I have taken some sewing classes, a good instructional book has always been my best friend. I started making butters because of my eczema.  My prescribed treatments never worked and I just wanted my skin to not be so dry.  My lip balms and butters are all natural; no strange chemicals or additives. My goal is to become a milliner, but for now I’m happy to be a Headwear Designer.  Wish me luck and enjoy. Teresa
